Fractional CIO

A technology leader in your corner — a few hours a month.

Most growing businesses don’t need a full-time CIO. They need a few focused hours a month of senior guidance — someone who owns the roadmap, manages the vendors and budget, and steers the decisions. That’s what I do as your fractional CIO: independent, on call, no products to sell you.

What I own for you

Strategy and leadership — not the help desk.

A roadmap that stays current

Not a binder that goes stale — a living 12-month plan reviewed every quarter.

Budget you can explain

An annual IT budget and quarterly check-ins you can take to your leadership.

Vendor & contract management

Renewals tracked, contracts reviewed before they auto-renew, negotiations backed by benchmarks.

Project oversight

Someone accountable riding herd on your providers — so projects actually land.

Risk in plain language

A clear read on your technology risk, reported in words you can act on.

A trusted advisor on call

Executive-level guidance in the room when technology decisions become business decisions.

Choose your cadence

A fraction of the cost of a full-time hire. Every tier is month-to-month.

Fractional CIO — questions

How is this different from what my IT company already does?+

Your IT provider keeps things running — and if they sell you products, their advice is shaped by what they profit from. I don't sell anything and take no commissions, so my guidance is independent. I'll even help you evaluate and hold your current provider accountable.

How many hours do I get?+

It scales with the tier — roughly a half-day a month at Advisory, a day at Standard, and two days at Executive. Most businesses don’t need a full-time CIO; they need a few focused hours of senior guidance each month. Work beyond that is billed at my standard $200/hr.

What does it cost compared to a full-time hire?+

A full-time CIO runs well into six figures once you count salary, benefits, and overhead. A monthly retainer of $2,500–$8,500 gives you that seat at the table for a fraction of the cost — and only for as long as it’s useful.

Is there a long commitment?+

No. It’s month-to-month. If you start with a Technology Assessment, I’ll credit that fee toward your first 90 days on a retainer.
